Administrator GUI

The Administrator has a graphical user interface which provides an overview of your attached iCore systems as well as detailed information about the currently selected entity or entity group.

The System explorer shows your attached iCore systems (the name of the system is fetched from the selected database). When you have logged on to a system, you can expand the view to see the System Configuration, Definitions, Configuration and Tracking sections. Selecting any of these main entity groups will display a list of links to the entities that belong to the group in the Document main area (see below).

The visibility of nodes in the System explorer is determined by permissions and the View mode filter(s) of the current User and User group. For example, you may be logged on as a User that belongs to a User Group which is only permitted to see tracking entities (Events, Jobs, Log and Nodes). The visible nodes can then be further filtered by applying View mode filters on User group and User level.

The System explorer header contains buttons that are specific to the system or entity type currently selected in the System explorer.

The App header area contains information about the currently logged-on user, as well as buttons for starting various iCore tools, opening the help file and the About dialog, and application settings.

When you select an entity type, the Document main area shows a list of entities currently available in the iCore system. Select an entity in the list, and the Document details shows all the relevant entity properties (the contents of Document details differs depending on the selected entity type). The contents of each area can be refreshed independently.

The Properties area shows the property values of an item selected in the document main area or in the document details area. The properties can be organized alphabetically or by category. Note the blue triangle marker () that points out the item which is currently used to populate the properties area. The marker can be a helpful point of reference when you have item lists in both the document main and details areas.

The Document header contains available commands that are specific to the selected entity type.

Shortcut menus

Right-clicking a system, group or entity in the system explorer or document area opens the context-sensitive shortcut menu for the item in question. The shortcut menu contains the operations that can be performed on the item. The GUI often provides many ways to accomplish the same thing, you can for example add a new Adapterflow in the following ways:

  • Right-click the Adapterflows node in the System explorer and select Add Adapterflow...
  • With the Adapterflows node selected in the System explorer, click the Add button in the document header.
  • With the Adapterflow node selected in the System explorer, right-click anywhere in the Document main area and select Add Adapterflow...

Progress dialog box

The progress of some operations, for example compiling/building Components, is shown in a progress message dialog box. The dialog box contains the messages of the current operation as well as old messages. Messages can be filtered based on severity (errors, warnings and messages). You can export the progress messages as a Microsoft Excel file by clicking the Export all data button.
